I build trust, focus, and follow-through so organizations perform better.
I've spent twenty years working with organizations at inflection points, as a COO, Chief of Staff, finance director, M&A advisor, and consultant. I believe an integrated leader is the best leader we can be. I lead with honesty and high standards, and I believe people do their best work when the systems around them support it. I build trust by naming what people feel and need, in each other and in their operating models, and leading from that reality.
"Betsy's work and communication style drove a dramatic increase in engagement in our OKRs, from executive sponsors to key result owners across our system. The impact has held all year, with on-time monthly check-ins from 100% of our key result owners. Her partnership brought lasting value." — Eve Hoar, System VP, Strategic & Business Planning, UVM Health
“Betsy was one of the people I relied on most. Betsy earned trust everywhere, not by trying to impress anyone, but by showing up consistently, listening deeply, and saying what needed to be said, even when it wasn't the easiest thing to hear. Betsy was a true partner in every sense.” — John Nicol, Ph.D., Digital Health Specialist, FDA (formerly VP Engineering, digital health startup)
I'm also an endurance athlete, and I love being outside. Running, skiing, swimming, and yoga show me that leading myself is the foundation for leading others. Training and adventures outdoors taught me that leadership means reading the signals and adjusting course. I lead a race and a team the same way. My forthcoming book shares more about it: Swim Home: A Memoir and Playbook for Trusting Yourself and Others Through Change.
Stories:
Swim Home: what swimming taught me about self-trust
Duck Cookies: what self-awareness taught me about universal human needs
